Mark DetzerAs a clinical psychologist, Mark Detzer understands people. Mark teaches Psychology and Brain Science courses at Dartmouth College. He is the Program Director of the Star Program at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He is also a health psychologist for the VA Medical Center in White River Junction, VT.
That’s why it is a great compliment to The Haven staff to hear Mark talk about his time on the Board of Directors. “I honestly can’t recall seeing a staff more cohesive and whose heart is more in their work than the staff at The Haven.”

Mark joined the Board shortly after The Haven opened its new facility in May 2004. A member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church next door to The Haven, Mark was recruited by Sara Garren, a long-time Haven volunteer and fellow St. Pauls’ member. “It has been interesting to watch The Haven grow.”
Mark has worked with many people in difficult situations, like the families living at The Haven shelter. “I am amazed by the contrast between what these families are going through and the calm environment at The Haven.”
