Sara has come to The Haven from her role as the Field Services Director for the Hartford District of the Vermont Agency of Human Services, a position she held for a little over four years. In that role she worked with all of the human service organizations in the Windsor and Orange County areas to assure that Vermont citizens are connecting with the resources that they need. Before that she served for nearly twenty years as the Vermont Division Director for Casey Family Services, guiding the staff in development of long term foster care, post adoption and family advocacy and support programs. She earned her BA from Simmons College and MSW degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She has been a Trustee of Alice Peck Day Hospital since 2003, serving as Board Chair since 2006. She has also served on the Hartland School Board, as a Board member of the United Way of the Upper Valley, and as a founding Board member of Hannah House. Sara presently serves on the Vermont Supreme Court Standing Committee on Family Rules and the Chief Justice’s Task Force for Children. Sara has also held a number of faculty positions, most recently as an instructor at the Community College of Vermont since 2002.
