Education for Adults

cooking class with Dena BrayThe Haven runs two support groups for adults, Parents Together and Women’s Group. During Parents Together, participants learn techniques to improve their parenting skills and share recent child rearing experiences. Angi Bailey, a former shelter guest, frequently moderates this group. Women’s Group is an informal gathering, where women share in the making of crafts or cooking. “When you walk into The Haven, you are greeted with smiling faces. I feel like I am part of a community that cares about me.”

—Angi Bailey,
former Haven shelter guest & mother of two daughters

Both groups provide a safe, nurturing space for parents living in The Haven Family Shelter. At a time when stress levels are high, this environment allows for healing, relaxation, and opportunities for growth in self-worth and self-confidence.
